Tips/Advice for meeting people

...See more Hi all, as the title says I'm looking for any advice in how to meet new people. I just got out of a long term relationship recently and feeling super lonely. As much as I'd love a new partner I don't think I'm ready for it so I want to let it happen more naturally, if I can. I have a couple friends, but not many and they're usually busy so it's hard to alleviate the loneliness, so I'm looking to branch out and find new friends and MAYBE a new partner if it turns out that way. My problem is my ex was always the more outgoing of the two of us and it was always easier for her to make friends and me just sort of attach on and make them my friends too lol. I dont have trouble talking to people I just have trouble starting conversations or keeping new relationships going long enough that they solidify into a real friendship. If it helps, I'm a 21 year old University student so any advice that pertains to that specifically would help too.
