Tips/Advice for meeting people

Hi all, as the title says I'm looking for any advice in how to meet new people. I just got out of a long term relationship recently and feeling super lonely. As much as I'd love a new partner I don't think I'm ready for it so I want to let it happen more naturally, if I can. I have a couple friends, but not many and they're usually busy so it's hard to alleviate the loneliness, so I'm looking to branch out and find new friends and MAYBE a new partner if it turns out that way. My problem is my ex was always the more outgoing of the two of us and it was always easier for her to make friends and me just sort of attach on and make them my friends too lol. I dont have trouble talking to people I just have trouble starting conversations or keeping new relationships going long enough that they solidify into a real friendship. If it helps, I'm a 21 year old University student so any advice that pertains to that specifically would help too.

Thank you for sharing and you are right, it can be tough making new friends. But I love that you are making this a goal instead of hopping right back into another relationship!

One thing that helped me was to find groups at University who did things that I liked. So whether a club or other activity (sometimes even a religious group), that is a great way to find people who enjoy similar things that you do so you can then start to build a connection based on those things.

The one other thing that I had to do was to really push to initiate get togethers. Sometimes just for something simple like studying together or grabbing a coffee. Or other times for something with a larger commitment, like a movie, dinner or volunteering together for a project. Just making a consistent effort really helped.

Don't worry, you will do it! Just keep putting yourself out there and never doubt the value you bring to the table ❤️
