advice about parents and my relationship

...See more Hi! This may seem silly, but I don’t know where else to look for advice. I’m 23 y/o and I have had an amazing opportunity to move across the country for a great job. My partner also 23, has found jobs in the city we want to move to. I was excited to tell my mom about my job, and mentioned my partner was probably moving with me. She started to hurt my feelings by saying negative things about them…things i would’ve never thought about them. I truly believe my partner is a good person with pure intentions. I have been successful in my life by myself. She said things like “not having a good gut feeling, that they’re just ‘okay’ and that he comes from a dysfunctional family and that’s going to reflect on my relationship, that she would have more respect for him if he let me go for 6 months and then move in with me, also that i can’t ever do anything on my own” my partner and i currently live hours away and rarely see each other. i believe i am an independent person with a supportive partner who truly brings happiness into my life, but after speaking with my mom i have been feeling a lot a doubt. wondering if my moms words are true. does she have a better instinct than i do? this is really starting to alter my thinking and i don’t want it to affect my relationship. I’m not sure if it’s okay to not have my parents approval at my age. They still support me financially since I am in school and I feel like she could be holding that against me even though I never asked for help. If anyone has a similar experience, i would appreciate your advice so much.
