...See more I can't tell if my previous message posted or not. So I'm going to try again. Sorry if it did and this is just repetitive. My trauma is split in 2 main parts. The abuse from my brother growing up and the later loss of my family when they found out in my adulthood. While I certainly feel the effects of what my brother did to me, it pales in comparison to the betrayal trauma inflicted by him and the rest of the family. I've tried and failed to maintain contact with them. Anything related to my resulting mental health is off limits and drives them further away. That is to say, I went to treatment for mental health and substance abuse and when I informed them, they cut contact. In an effort to maintain contact, it seems I've pushed them farther away

...See more I wasn't sure if I should be posting here or the grief and loss channel. Part of my story is the trauma inflicted on me by my brother. The other part is my family's response to it when they found out later in my adulthood. They took his side and eventually cut me out of their lives. I now struggle with (amongst other things) the damage done by my brother and the consequential loss of my family. Any advice or encouragement would be appreciated. I've been pretty stuck on this.
