...See more About a year ago, I managed to find an apartment that suited my needs well. I enjoyed the old architecture and features, as well as the location. Unfortunately, after not even a month living there, my mental health took a dive and I was hospitalized, causing me to lose my job. I moved back in with my parents and have been stable here for about nine months now. A relative moved into the apartment and paid the rent for the last year, and while I appreciate the on time payments helping my credit, it's now starting to cause problems. He and his friends trashed the place, broke the doors and a couple windows, and changed the locks. I decided not to renew the lease, mostly because I want to move beyond the whole thing, and because we're all struggling right now, he hasn't moved out of the apartment and the lease has been up for over a month now. The property management company (as these things go) was hounding me immediately, and because I didn't want to be under fire for illicitly subletting the place, I basically dodged their phone calls, because there isn't anything I can do to "vacate the premises" because I don't live there.  Yesterday, I was informed that I have been summoned to appear in court for failure to vacate, or however they say it in that indecipherable legal speak. I plan to go to my court date and admit to breaking to lease, while making it clear that I have not lived at this apartment since the end of May last year. I'm anxious for a few reasons, I've never appeared in court before, and I'm transgender and haven't had my name legally changed. If anyone has experience with this type of situation I would greatly appreciate it. I feel so in the dark and it feels like the mistakes I made during a manic bender are coming back in a karmic sort of way.

...See more Recently I had an episode, bought a bag, and spent a few weeks living it up with one of my uncles before checking into the local behavioral health unit. After I got out, I was okay for a few days, albeit very tired, until I bought another bag and smoked on it in my room for a couple weeks until my mental health couldn't take the additional psychosis anymore and I snapped. There was a suicide attempt that I will not detail here, and shortly after, I destroyed what was left of my stash, paraphernalia included.  I'm doing better now. The first few days after, I slept in, one day I didn't leave my room at all because I was out like a light from 10pm until 11pm the next day.  It is slowly getting better. I know I made mistakes that I hid from everyone and isolated myself which made the problem worse.  I go out and I talk to my family. It's gonna be okay.
