...See more When I was working as a domestic helper in Kuwait, the reality was much harder than I ever expected. My employer treated me like a laborer, forcing me to do heavy work that is typically meant for men. Beyond the physical exhaustion, I lived under constant stress because of my employer’s daughters; they were physically abusive and constantly hurt me with their words. There were many days when the mistreatment was so bad that I couldn't even eat my lunch or dinner. ​During those dark times, I was haunted by "what ifs." I constantly thought: * ​What if my husband had a stable job? * ​What if he was the one providing for us while I stayed home to care for our son? * ​What if I didn't have to suffer like this just to survive? ​Seeing posts from friends who had supportive husbands providing for their families made me feel a deep sense of jealousy. It was hard not to compare my struggle to their comfort and wonder why my life had to be so different.
