why is so different.

When I was working as a domestic helper in Kuwait, the reality was much harder than I ever expected. My employer treated me like a laborer, forcing me to do heavy work that is typically meant for men. Beyond the physical exhaustion, I lived under constant stress because of my employer’s daughters; they were physically abusive and constantly hurt me with their words. There were many days when the mistreatment was so bad that I couldn't even eat my lunch or dinner.

During those dark times, I was haunted by "what ifs." I constantly thought:

  • What if my husband had a stable job?

  • What if he was the one providing for us while I stayed home to care for our son?

  • What if I didn't have to suffer like this just to survive?

Seeing posts from friends who had supportive husbands providing for their families made me feel a deep sense of jealousy. It was hard not to compare my struggle to their comfort and wonder why my life had to be so different.

I am so incredibly sorry you had to go through that. It sounds like you were carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders while being treated with such cruelty. Please know that your feelings—the exhaustion, the hurt, and even the jealousy—are completely valid. You weren't just working; you were surviving in an environment no one should ever have to endure. You are so strong for coming through that, but you shouldn't have had to be that strong.
It’s so understandable that you’d look at others and wonder why your path had to be so much steeper. Those 'what ifs' aren't a sign of weakness; they’re a sign of how much you love your family and how much you deserved a softer life. Thank you for trusting me with this part of your journey. I see the sacrifices you made, and I see the incredible heart you have for your son.
I’m sitting here just thinking about everything you went through. It sounds so painful and unfair. I want you to know I’m so glad you’re in a place now where you can share this. You deserve peace after everything you’ve carried.
