Toxic parents
I can understand you because my parents are also toxic . I don't talk much to them.
My parents are toxic to me because I came out to them as part of the LGBTQ community

I agree. It was said in the "good book" that "love of money is the root of all evil". I'd like to add that poor parenting is the root of all evil, too, in that the children grow up hating themselves, never achieving, and worse yet, becoming parents themselves and carrying on the abuse. I came from a poor family with odd, strict ideas about things. I had behavioral problems as a toddler and young child, for which I was punished. My parents never believed in therapy. I would have been diagnosed with mild Aspbergers, signs of which "I grew out of" over the decades. But the damage was done. Thank God I never had children! Thank God for the many blessings I now have, but I feel I've never achieved anything and now it's too late.
I cut off contact with my mom nearly 7 years ago. I just saw her for the first time last month (because I felt sorry for her getting older and having health problems) but within 5 minutes of being there, I knew I was okay with not seeing her ever again. You would think people would change and become nicer as they age, but it just seems that the narcissistic or abusive tendencies only gets deeper in people.
As for my dad, well he is where I get my abandonment trauma from. It's weird because I used to blame my mother for never having set a good example, and for being abusive, as the reason I am not more successful with relationships, but I realize now that my dad leaving when I was a baby, and him remaining emotionally distant in my adulthood, is probably the reason I am so easily triggered when a relationship ends. It really does create this massive hole inside of my stomach and chest that just hurts for weeks, and that, in turn, locks me into this mental cycle of thinking I need to get that person back to fill the hole... but it never really works out, does it? And here we all are, over 50, still struggling with our mommy/daddy issues.
Yes I get it, still struggling with parent issues, in fact my dad has me around the throat from the grave. There's 4 of us kids and we each have our issues with the abuse after affects . One sib is just like dad - I blocked him from my life. No more toxicity if I can manage to block it. I don't know if it's possible to get past all of it before I die, I'm just coping best I can..... 🙏 For peace, ABB💜
