NATIONAL REACH AS HIGH AS YOU CAN DAY

National Reach as High as You Can Day is observed annually on April 14th.

We can define reach many ways. Search Guinness World Records for highest reach and Guinness gives us 322 results. We can reach for our dreams or our goals. Reach for the stars or the sky. We can even reach for the balloon floating away from us much like the one that carried the Wizard of Oz away from Dorothy.

Of course, records can be set for the oldest or the youngest to reach a particular location, age, height or status.

While this day may not be about setting records, it is certainly about reaching high; higher than we think we can. We often become complacent. National Reach as High as You Can Day is just a reminder on the calendar not to let your dreams go adrift. Reach for them. Reach as high as you can!

Questions:
- How are you doing?
- What are you doing to help reach as high as you can?

@AnxietyWarrior2

Welcome to 7cups and the sub-community. A lot of folks do good coping skills. You can also find some good self-help guides that might help and then the 35+ room and the 50+ rooms both have discussions that might help also. Anxiety and Depression communities have discussions that might help also.

- How are you doing? Reasonably well for a morning. Weekend was a bit rough, but I made it through.
- What are you doing to help reach as high as you can? Taking the best care of my girlfriend that I can. Doing everything I can think of to make her love me.

I'm experiencing some anxiety and self-doubt today. It's not crippling, thankfully. More of an uncomfortable sense that something is wrong, that I'm not measuring up. And, I don't want to face this fear. I want to hide and goof off. I don't want to be responsible or take responsibility. I want to ignore my cares and worries, pretend they aren't there, even though that's a sure path to misfortune. I don't want to do the hard work of being an adult.

Neither do I want to think about what I'm doing to reach. I'm afraid to discover that the answer is nothiing at all.

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing some anxiety and self-doubt today. Sometimes we need to take a break also and push things off until we can cope with reaching our goal be it laundry or dishes or what ever the item might me. Hope you feel better soon.

Hey me too, better than when I first showed up here, but I know I ain't reaching. Just happy to be up and moving about before ten lately. Sometimes I wonder ...why am I here? I am taking up space for no apparent reason. There is nothing that I long to do. I am a loner. A fruitloop.

@Chickadee123

I know a lot of folks in the room care about you. Maybe you can find something fun that you can start doing to reach for that goal?

@DanaMH You have a point. I really enjoy feeding the birds over the winter. Darned starlings show up in the spring and crap on my car, and pig out too. I cannot afford their nonsense. So I am hobby-less at the moment. There is always too much that I need to do. Nothing that I want to do. Going to reach for a want today. Got an idea already, will report back this weekend.....if I do it or not

@Chickadee123

Totally get that about the birds. Our issue is the squirrels that make a mess here. They get into the bird food and then put a mess on the ground. At least we do have some birds that like eating from the ground and clean up that mess they make. Sounds like my husbands to do list since my foot surgery his list is long since I can't walk and can't do much from a coach or bed with my foot up and resting my ankle. Hopefully you can find some time to do some fun things and looking forward to hear about it soon.
