Talking with Strangers in our life
How can I be friendly with strangers?
- Look approachable and friendly.
- Open nonverbally before you start talking to someone.
- Open with a small interaction.
- Introduce yourself.
- Ask open-ended questions.
- Ask the person to explain something to you.
- Don't be afraid to disagree.
- Stick to safe topics.
How do I stop being so shy around strangers?
- Don't tell. There's no need to advertise your shyness.
- Keep it light.
- Change your tone. If you blush when you're uncomfortable, don't equate it with shyness.
- Avoid the label. Don't label yourself as shy--or as anything.
- Stop self-sabotaging.
- Know your strengths.
- Choose relationships carefully.
- Avoid bullies and teases.
How can I feel more comfortable around strangers?
- Build your self-confidence. Feeling comfortable around others means feeling comfortable with yourself, too.
- Use positive self-talk.
- Avoid basing your worth on other people's reactions.
- Use your breath.
- Relax.
How can I get over my fear of strangers?
- Use relaxation techniques with exposure techniques. As you face your fears, you may experience feelings of anxiety.
- Take deep breaths.
- Try meditation.
- Practice yoga at home.
- Use progressive muscle relaxation.
How do you start a conversation with a random person?
- Make eye contact before you approach.
- Examine the person's body language.
- Make small talk if you want to build the conversation.
- Ask open-ended questions to learn more about the person.
- Give the person a compliment if you like something about them.
Questions:
- How are you doing?
- If you were in a room of people you did not know, what would be some ways to reach out to them that you currently do and some new ways that you would like to start doing?

Great Dana! <3

Glad you liked it and that is a great idea to print it.
@DanaMH Hi Dana! In a room full of people I'm just meeting I would approach someone with a smile and say hi, followed by some sort of compliment and then ask what brings them here......
This is a tough topic. For sure I can improve by not labeling myself as shy, however, many younger people don
I agree it is sad. Older folks enjoy it when we talk to them. I know at my moms place everyone smiles when I say hi to them when going in the lobby and they are sitting there.
