Abuse
TW: Abuse
My fiance threw me into a wall and grabbed my arms and squeezed. He left bruises on me. I served him a 30 day notice to get out. He is willing to go to doc for his bipolar disorder and take meds. I'm unsure. I know abusers act sorry and say they will stop. I don't know what to think.
@BookishWendy That sounds like such a painful and frightening experience. You absolutely didn’t deserve to be hurt or treated that way. It’s understandable that you’re unsure about what to believe right now, especially when someone says they’ll change after something so serious. It’s okay to take time and put your safety and emotional wellbeing first while you figure things out. You don’t have to face this alone. If you can, reaching out to trusted friends, family, or a domestic violence helpline could really help you feel supported and safe as you decide what’s best for you.

Hi Wendy,
Sorry you had to deal this the trauma of being pushed and grabbed.
In all my years of being married that is one thing neither of us would tolerate.
I hope you make the right decision for YOU and do what's best for you and your safety.
Sending you lots of hugs 🤗🤗🤗🤗

🥺
I'm sorry to hear you went through this.
It's not acceptable in anyway at all.
Even if he has bipolar disorder, it is good that he seems help and gets the support he needs, but this behaviour is not justified ever!

Don’t fall for it… It’s part of the cycle of abuse.
I am SO sorry that happened
I can imagine you’re feeling so many conflicting things in a difficult situation like this where you care about someone who needs help
You don’t need to know how you feel, you don’t need to decide anything right now. You can make sure you are safe and that he is at arms length (or further) while you take Time to process
You can always revisit the idea of a relationship with him if he does get meds and gets his bipolar disorder under more control
But you don’t owe anyone anything except your safety to yourself 💗
I too have bipolar disorder. But your safety is important dear. Help him as friend, get him to a doctor, stabilize the situation first. If it's overwhelming take care of yourself first .
I feel it's God's curse tht some PPL get mental illnesses. I myself struggling with bipolar disorder. But what else can be done? Many a times I push away PPL due to my anger issues and mood swings. I'm lonely, misunderstood. But here your safety is important. Take the emotion out of the relationship, get him to doctor first as a well wisher or a frd then u may think as a fiancee .
Six distinct stages make up the cycle of violence: the set-up, the abuse, the abuser's feelings of “guilt” and his fear of reprisal, his rationalization, his shift to non-abusive and charming behavior, and his fantasies and plans for the next time he will abuse.

I am so sorry you had to go through something like that...And as for what to do, it depends on you. If you feel ok with forgiving him and giving him a second chance, then go ahead. But never stick with someone because you feel it's the societally accepted thing or because "others have partners that behave this way and they are ok with them". If YOU feel comfortable and safe around him, then go ahead. Otherwise cut him out.
