Retirement idea
Hello everyone,
I’m a 62-year-old man, and I’m going to retire in about a month. I’m divorced and have no children, and lately I’ve been feeling very lonely. I’ve been wondering what life will be like for me after retirement, and honestly, the fear of loneliness has been weighing heavily on me.
I would appreciate hearing from others who have gone through retirement alone. How did you adjust, and what helped you find purpose and companionship?

I can relate to what you are feeling. I'm in almost an identical spot as you. I'll be 62 in a couple of months, I am divorced, live alone and will probably retire sooner than later.
Staying active is going to be crucial going forward. Many older people have lost their place in society, because they feel they are less valued. So many of us have to consciously make an effort to re-connect with people and the community. Life in these retirement years can definitely be rewarding and fulfilling, we just have to remember to engage ourselves.
I still have to work on this too. But a few of the ideas I am already doing and ones I am actively planning on doing are:
Work out at a gym, (even if we can do this at home...if you are by yourself, it's not as safe either).
I'm going to my first "Senior Singles Club" event this week at my church.
Whatever you enjoy doing, or any hobbies you might have (or want to start up a new one), are ways to get back into an active life.
All of this for me is real personal. I just moved 1400 miles south to Florida with my adult kids and my ex-wife still back where I came from. So I truly feel like I am starting over. But I am actually really excited! I have already meet some friendly people.
I hope you enjoy this next chapter in your life!
