Anxiety and depression over many different kinds of loss.

Hi, I'm 52. I have suffered many types of loos in my life. I feel I always took them in stride but now I think it's all just catching up. The most recent losses have been my job(partly because of Covid but partly a really messed up situation with the company) and my brother died 3 and a half months ago. He is the 4th brother I have lost.

@Liz2069 Hi Liz I'm so sorry to read about the death of your brother, and that you've lost brothers before him. I'm sure the stresses and losses of COVID and job loss don't help either.

Hi Liz It is so hard to come to terms with a single loss let alone multiple losses such as you have experienced. I am sure all the listeners here wish we had wise words to say that could deminish your pain but in truth you have to work through the pain and anguish and let it out as this acceptance that grief is horrendous will slowly allow you to adapt to your loss. I purposely don't say "Get Over" your loss because we don't, we can learn to manage our brief so it does not dominate every moment of our day, but there will always be times when the grief can overwhelm you and it's not a bad thing for you to let that happen. The pain has to come out. There is no right or wrong way to deal with your feelings of grief, they are your feelings and you have to allow yourself to feel them....to process them. Talking helps usually....even if it hurts to do so and having someone who provides a safe emotional place for you to talk about your brother's....your feelings etc will be helpful to you I am sure.

I am seeking help through counseling but just need a productive outlet in between sessions! Thanks for your support!

I Liz, I sympathize with your most recent loss and all the others. I so much know how it all can pile up on you. I also have been dealing with losses and also feel it often gets too much to bear at times. I hope your therapist helps you lots and that you can also connect with a listener and all that the nice comment below suggested. I know how support is needed between therapy sessions. I hope it can get more managabe for you and get to a point that is dealable for you. Hugs

Hi Liz,
I'm checking back in with you to see how things are going for you now. How are things going? Has your therapy been helping you cope with all of your losses well enough?

Liz, I have finally started taking an anti-depressant for the situational depression from all of my losses and am also doing therapy. Liz, if it is ok to ask, did also decide to take an anti-depressant? I was on anti-depressants for years, but, had been off of them for a few years--then, many losses have happened.

How are you dealing with not working at your previous job? I know that can be very, very difficult to just have to, "stop," that. I remember so well when I had to go through that and how hard it was.

I hope you have been alright, Liz. I'm looking forward to hopefully hearing back from you.
