I'm only 50 in birth years.
Hi, I just joined. I used this site many years ago under a different user name and am surprised by how much it's changed. I feel weird about joining the over 50 group because I am going through a breakup with a 19 year old and I feel the same age as her. Actually, perhaps today, I might feel much younger. Identifying with my actual age is foreign to me and I wonder if that's common for people who suffer from mental illnesses, or if it's unique to me. At the same time, I also don't really fit in with the teenagers' groups either, as I learned during my last relationship. I'm a bit lost at the moment and struggling to find an identity that makes sense for this next part of my life.

Greetings, and rewelcome. I am 51 and autistic, and I know that I and many others in the autistic community feel that age numbers are an NT construct in some ways. I mean of course age counting isn't, but whatever significance it might have, that is definitely a social construct. And, indifference to this can slow aging - it's a joyful thing.
I haven't joined any age-group communities. Look for communities on other factors, that's probably better. I don't think you want to join a teenage group, that seems dishonest, but join one that isn't about age. There are plenty. Everyone is welcome.

Hello, and thanks for welcoming me to the forums. This was on my home page so I thought I'd check it out. the funny thing is, when I was on here ages ago, I suggested having forums and chats for people over 35 because they didn't have them at the time!! Anyway, I have ADHD, which is in some ways similar to Autism, and then again, very different. So you may be onto something there about the age-feeling. I do feel it physically though!! Just not mentally or emotionally!
