On a journey of discovery
I discovered I had a destructive addiction 4 years ago that destroyed my marriage, I brought that same addiction into my current relationship and it almost destroyed it as well. I am sober now for 4 years but suffer the consequences of a lifetime of self abuse..and it wasn't alcohol.

Congratulations on your recovery! The first question is where do these destructive feelings stem from? Is this hereditary? What about past relationships can you share some insight?
@Sidneymacsid Congratulations on being sober for 4 years! You're doing amazing, I wish you the best in your journey of self-discovery!

Congratulations on your recovery journey. It's a rough journey which means you're a strong person to get through that. I'd like to see it's easier to treat yourself well, but it isn't. I have been practicing that for the first time in my life for the past year. I am in the middle of very low budget decorating my home. And while it's for everyone who lives in my house, it feels a little selfish on my part. Keep thinking I should be saving the money for rainy days because you know they come. But I haven't let myself have anything before. I guess I didn't think I deserved it. Still struggling with that a bit. You deserve to be treated well by those around you AND by you.
Dear Sidneymacsid,
I admire your honesty with yourself and others. I believe you should start saying or thinking positive things about yourself to yourself.
