Let's Tell A Story!
Let's all write a story together. Everyone can contribute by writing a few lines or a paragraph (even just a few words), but try to pick up where the last person left off. You can add characters and events to the story, try to make it flow naturally. Let's see where this goes. :) I will start us off:
As the fog rolled in and flooded the streets, the wind sent tree branches screeching across windows, and the clouds stretched eerily over the evening sky;
He did not know why he heme into the deserted city of mists...what he was looking for...his wolf was apprehensive but he was in his element...emptyness, destruction, desolation, depravation of senses...no more smell due to the stench of the marshes...no more sight due to the fog...no more hearing due to the howling wind (strange place to have both mists and howling winds in one place when they never meet)...no more touch since everything was covered in millenia of dust and crumbling upon touch...the only taste was that that he knew to expect...
The windows grew back on so they could be shattered again by the mad berserk branches...
Yet he was in his element, confident that none of the branches or tge continous shattered glass will touch him...he stood there for a moment...
His wolf knew this calm stance of his friend, he saw him face harm and malice and danger with that remote, detached calmness...
The wolf knew his human friend had other senses to make sense of this senseless place, the wolf knew even the darkness was afraid of his friend...
The sun was nowhere to be seen, the moon or the stars neither...
"Let's sleep here for the night myfriend..." though who knew if night or not...he pointed to a niche in the walls (an old fountain arch)...
"Just like old times", thought the wolf...
They sat together under the refuge of the fountain arch and his heavy rain coat...
"Why are we looking for flowers in this place myfriend?" asked the wolf
"I do not know..."
answered the man and opened his fist to show the wolf...
... his palm. The wolf growled quietly. He had never seen it before. He could still smell the burnt flesh. It was a brand of a small map and unfamiliar lettering.
Though he could not comprehend the garbled written message, he vaguely recognized the location on the map. He examined it once more, suddenly he thought to himself "she's still awake." He recalls the very reason he quests for the rare flowers his wolf mentioned earlier. "The girl...she hasn't much time left."
Whimpering, the wolf responds, "I can't recall why we came to this wasteland, myfriend."
"Something here has warped our memory. She knew we'd forget. Far away from this place of nothingness, a girl rests awaiting our return. The flowers we seek are the only cure for her ill." He thought aloud.
"Of course, she is responsible for the map on your hand. She is trying to help us remember." The wolf grunted.
This realization troubled him deeply, for he knew using her magic would eat away at what's left of her energy. "We must continue the search..."
@HighSummoner92 (p.s. I know you wanted a tornado survivalist story but I just felt like fantasy so I went with it😉, sorry...)
@KristaMelena I love it! It's perfect! I think it will be interesting to see where this story leads us. :)
@HighSummoner92 (if it werent for collective writing there would never have been so many branched book sequels to stars wars and so many of my lunch money spent on them, great people collective writers😉 tge story goes on, neverending story...)
"Is this the White Tower in the White City?" asked the wolf...
"Yes, the white city in the mists" came his whisper, his eyes unfocused...
"But that is not real you know, myfriend..."
"Yes, it is her hiding place"
"Whose hiding place?" The wolve's eyes were inquisitive...
The man's eyes came back and answered his gray friend: "the one who put the mark between your eyes, the mark you see the reflection of when you drink drink water."
The wolf smiled with his eyes..."it is the little one then!" fangs showing in tender delight
"After she ran away she build her own hiding place..." the man sighed..."that's why her mother sent us here first..."
The wolf felt the warmth in its heart...so she is alive and hiding here...
"There it is, the white marble porch..." branches and shards of glass and rain were falling on his shoulders as he said it...
The wolf snarled, his eyes glazed over with anticipation; he could feel her heartbeat and sensed she was near. The tower was enveloped in a white glowing aura, an impenetrable barrier of protection that sealed the girl inside. As they approached the entrance, they noticed the barrier receding and the doors seemed to dissipate before their eyes.
A gentle, yet mesmerizing voice resounded in their heads, "I know why you're here, you've come such a long way." The piercing, metallic voice belonged to the girl. They took their first uncertain steps into the entrance hall, when unexpectedly the girl continued to speak to them. "The tower may allow you to pass the threshold, but it will take it's toll..."
@HighSummoner92
"Take the toll my little Lady" said the Wolf "Take our souls!".
"You know you have our souls since you both marked us my little Lady..."
"Me you marked between my eyes..."
"Him you said has a dragon skin so you cannot mark him on the outside so him you said you will mark deep inside..."
The man was silent and walked inside carrying his silence...3 things bothered him...her hollow "metallic" voice...may have fooled the wolf since he is getting old...opening the gate without matching the symbol (not only a map but a key) and third without greeting us on our names, she who brought light in our lives with her childhood...not her voice, not right...
So his eyes eyes went gray and unfocused again and he walked in in total silent confidence...then the wolf noticed this in the end and the hair rose on its back...
The man's feet weighed down in the silence on the marble floors one by one...with terrible echoing sounds in the hollow halls...
The one the reaper was afraid to come after, his friend, was walking again to face the darkness..."here we go again, I am too old for this" thought the wolf...
Then he saw them...
@KristaMelena
He saw them and he was taken aback. A semblance of tenebrous figures, shadows darker than the night, were writhing about.
He and the wolf had transcendent sight, making the figures visible in the rayless corridor. They did not fear the inexplicable beings, though they were not certain of their intentions.
"We wish to communicate with her, the one you protect." said the man.
"Perhaps they cannot speak..." the wolf closely examined their contorted visages.
They decided to press on, and attempt to ignore this mystifying encounter, yet were overcome by trepidation...
*SIDE NOTE** I'm leaving room for character development to take place, so whoever feels like defining the characters we have so far, please go for it. :) so far we've got the wolf, the man, a girl, and her mother. It has not yet been established where they originated, nor have we divulged any of their characters traits. Anyone who wants to contribute can do so. :) I'm also not rushing this at all. Thanks to anyone who contributes to this thread. **RESUME STORYTELLING**
@HighSummoner92 me too, feel free to leave the room empty😉...once we leave, silence follows...
The man turned around suddwnly and the beings cowered...
"No mylord, it was not our fault, don't destroy our families again"...."not our fault..."
His calm voice said "You thought I didn't know?...I know you were forced to do it as I know each an one of you that I have spared"
He turned to the wolf "Myfriend, there is magic that overpowered her protective magic here...", "these are not protectors but guards"
"But my friend", answered the wolf, "her song and soft voice in the begining before becoming metallic, she is still here"
"Yes", sighed the man, "she just faded in the sight of threat"...
The creatures cleared out silently...
"Where do we go myfriend?", asked the man in a tired whisper..."up in the towers to your raven friends or down bellow in the dungeons?"
Just then, something fell on the floor...
@KristaMelena
The man peered down to see what had fallen at his feet. It was a necklace, an eredeciant jewel on a pure silver chain. Also attached to the chain was a scroll containing peculiar symbols. "I recognize this rune work....we're being summoned..."
The wolf stood at attention, "Who is it, myfriend, that beckons us?"
"The jewel is enchanted, it will show us the way..."
"It's your name in runes you silly, you are getting old, gather the runes together and put tgem in one symbol. Where we see that symbol we insert the gem. Sorry myfriend, down to the dungeons it is."
They followed narrow stairs to a dark, dank dungeon. As they approached the first door, they paused to inspect the cramped passageway. There were at least 5 more doors ahead. Each door had lanterns hung next to their high iron latches. There seemed to be noises coming from the last door. Quiet, painful moans.
"You don't have a choice, do you?" said the wolf..."no, it is written in my heart to help those in need..."
"What if it's a trap?" asked the wolf...
"Myfriend things are simple...If it's not a trap, I help a soul and then we can find the passage way to the tower"...
"If it is a trap, I ask you how many traps have got me, am I entrapped or walking with the reaper who is even afraid to dance with me?"
Myfriend, we have to brake down this heavy door...
And the door looks sturdy, it has large iron hinges and steel rivets so we must go to the tool shed to look for something to use to break open this door.
As we walked down the path under a full moon we could hear the wolves howelling in the distance. The trees are still wet from the storms we just endured and our feet sloshing in the mud with each step. The clearing allows us to see the shed but a glowing light just beyond attracts our attention. We walk through the soaking wet grass towards the glowing light.
As we approach the base of this attractive glow we hear "the key to life can be had if you answer a riddle" quicly we look up to a branch at the edge of the old majestic tree and there above us a great owl with big all-knowing eyes repeats to us "the key to life can be had if you answer a riddel" We look at eachother, then up and ask......
