ADHD & Painful Boredom = Sleep Issues

Does anyone else feel so painfully bored especially at nighttime that no matter what, you have to do anything else but sleep? You want to have your life together, have a sleep schedule, wake up at consistent patterns everyday, yet part of your brain just simply does not WANT TO?

It could be scrolling on your phone, and if you don't have that its playing games, if its not THAT it's binge eating, or literally anything else that is available where you endlessly procrastinate going to bed until 3 am, then instantly regret it the next morning. In return, causing continuous sleep issues.

Since I struggle with depression and struggling to feel good, which in combination with ADHD equals to absolutely 0 dopamine in your brain that you might die from how painful the boredom is to just sleep if you just sit there with your super-sonic racing thoughts preventing you from going to sleep. I have wanted to go to bed early every night for months, yet It is so unbelievably hard to due so due to ADHD and severe boredom.

For those that currently deal with this, or have struggled with this and found solutions, does anyone have any tips and tricks that could help me with this issue?

Any comments to this thread would be appreciated :)

@Dreamy89

I can relate with this so much. I have struggled to sleep on time for not months but for years. I can understand how you might be feeling. I have tried different methods but always fall back.

I have got some understanding on what I need to do based on my experiences. No matter what, I will reach that goal of following a good sleep schedule.

We both can share whatever helps us, I can be your accountability partner if you like that idea.

When I am stressed it's even more difficult to sleep early, currently I am searching for a job that puts a little pressure on me.

Good luck to you! Take care

Will be waiting for your response.

I'm so happy someone relates to me! Sorry for the delayed response, I was shopping all day. I am sorry to hear you have struggled with sleeping issues. It is NOT fun especially when you get to a point you are sleep deprived but yet your brain has a stronger craving for short-term dopamine.

I would love to do that! Currently what has helped me is setting up an app blocker on my laptop and phone for specific periods of time. They both are working lovely, the problem is I'm able to access websites through incognito yet I'm trying to figure out how LOL.

YES when your stressed that's when it's definitely worse! I wish you good luck with the job finding search, assuming you have an ADHD brain since you're here make sure it's something that really interests you to keep you hooked! :)

Thank you! Good luck to you too! What type of job are you looking for if you don't mind me asking?

Hi @Dreamy89

This is just a quick reply for time being. For our time to match I am in India and I follow IST ( Indian Standard Time), you can let me know which standard time you use if you are comfortable. Generally, I login to 7 cups in the night as per IST. I feel more interaction between each other can help us overcome this sleep issue.

You seem to have good understanding of what are the reasons that don't let you sleep, that's good to start with.

I am thinking of opening a separate thread to update our sleep schedule everyday and what we are doing everyday to make it better? I am eager to do some thing like this and I believe it will help both of us. If your answer is YES, then as soon as you reply I will go ahead and start a thread. You can suggest whether to open the thread in the same community or in other communities like Journal or something.

One psychiatrist said I have ADD, he didn't do a detailed diagnosis. I might go for a proper diagnosis again. I personally feel I have similar struggles to that of an ADHD affected person.

I am looking for a job in accounting/finance. I like it but sometimes because of the work environment it can be quite stressful.

I am planning to take up some part time jobs for time being to pay for my rent and basic expenses.

So, let me know what you think about the thread idea. To start with today I woke up at 1 .05 pm and it's already 4:30 a.m. but not yet slept.

Take care, will write again.

@Lovetoconverse

I think that is a great idea! My time zone is CT(central) meaning our time zone is almost exactly the same except change the pm to am vice versa LOL!

Today, I woke up at around 12:30 pm, didn't fall asleep last night until 12:30 am... I have struggled with my sleep due to extreme anxiety and craving for dopamine due to that. I also have an issue with OCD where that keeps me up at night as well. I don't know how to stop these issues, also whichever thread works for  you you can do that :)

Sorry for not the long response, i feel very tired right now and exhausted from stress. Overall I would be happy with the idea of creating a thread!
