Hi. I was diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood.

I have struggled throughout my life with procrastination.

I have so many dreams and ambitions, but I feel like I cannot motivate myself to successfully reach my potential, whether that be with a career path, finding a partner, being financially independent, etc. This then affects my self-esteem and confidence.

Has anyone else felt this way?

and what have you done which has helped you to focus on reaching your goals to succeed?

Some tips that have worked for me:

  • Start small
  • Get a good planner that works for you
  • Get a coach or plan with a loved one
  • Don't give up when your planning doesn't work out, it takes a while to get into the zone
  • If you take meds or have therapy stay on top of them
  • Talk about it like you do here
  • Know that you're not a failure, you have adhd which makes task management harder, and that was never a choice but it's something that can be worked with

I hope this helps a little💖

Hello there, something that work for some people is creating habits.

Habits are things we do automatically without needing to spend energy or willpower to do them, like taking a shower, brushing our teeth or walking. When we were younger this actions could be difficult for us, but we get so used to them that they became habits.

The same can be do to create the habit of studing, doing sports, listening to others or many other things. There are many guides and videos in the internet about creating habits.

The basic idea is to break some difficult activity into easy steps, then do that easy step for like a month until it become a habit and require no effort to do it. Once you have done this, start with the next step untill it become a habit and so on.

For example, a person who want to start doing more exercice could start with a 5 minutes easy exercices in the morning for a month. Once they get usted to that, they could increase to 10 minutes for another month and so on. Its slower but its easy to success since it requires low willpower.

Good luck. =)
