i think i have ADHD and idk where to start
hello! i was curious about everyone else's experiences with ADHD and medications are. i felt like i handled myself pretty well until i was on my own for the first time when i started college in 2023. my grandma, parents, and brother are all diagnosed with ADHD but i never had a diagnosis.
i am a good student and i get good grades. this also costs my sanity. any huge project that i don't feel 1000% invested in feels like i have to use every ounce of energy in my body to complete. i beat myself over this all the time because i know the things i need to do are important but i physically cannot finish anything. its so frustrating. another issue i have is sensory stuff. i have benefited GREATLY from noise cancelling stuff. without it, there's just constant noise in my head which also makes it hard to focus.
my friends and family think i have ADHD or autism. there's a lot of people who think i have both. i'm in college right now for social work and i really want to make sure i am the best version of myself for my future clients. i want to make sure i can be the best version of myself for me.
it's all overwhelming, especially in the current political climate. my PCP gave me a ADHD questionaries one appointment and from it, but me on 30-40mg of vyvanse. i'm not sure if medication is the best thing for me or if it was just way too high but it was too much for me. if anyone has advice or just their own stories i would love to hear it. thank you very much for reading and your time :)
@loyalFan8378 OH forgot to mention that i'm a woman which might also contribute to my lack of a diagnosis.
I feel like this alot. I'm struggling so much with my upcoming exams and I'm excessively procrastinating, I care about my grades and I've been a good student too but it's been so hard for me to do , also the mental noise, feels like I'm thinking all the time
