Hi there I have SOD (sensory overload disorder) and one thing that helps me is noise cancelling headphones

@Ashbashbear thank you. Sadly headphones don´t work for me cause they give me headache. I can only wear a specific type of earphones that don´t fall out by themselves but they sadly don´t block out much noise. I will remember to put them in tho when i will need to block out some of the chaos. Thank you for your tip!

@sadcat13 Hey! 😊 I just saw this. I know it's almost 2 years old 😳 So I'm waaayyyy late!

I was actually looking for the post about your wisdom tooth because I wanted to ask how it was going? If it's feeling better?

I do have problems with auditory processing. For me, I've found its best if people talk directly to me and I'm facing them. Sometimes it's easier to read their lips while they're talking to me. Anything written is also a BIG help. Doctor stuff, dentist, and instructions, anything important is better to have it written down. I try to take notes during phone calls or anytime I'm talking with someone and can't see their face.

@mytwistedsoul oh, thank you haha. Notes can be really helpful 😊

About the wisdom tooth, uhhh. Please skip if you have emetophobia. I was on a check up yesterday and we actually removed the stitches except one that still has some work to do. I came home and existed until the evening, but the constant and demanding treatment schedule got too much for my body and it just gave up. The sleep deprivation from spacing the meds, my period and the strong antibiotics simply ended in me projectile vomiting the entire bathroom at like 5am. We called my dentist in the morning about what happened and got told since I took 8 days of the antibiotics already, I can stop taking them now and don't have to finish the entire box. I'm anxious about it, thinking I will get an infection but I also can't even think about swallowing another of those pills without it following the lastone. But today I finally slept a little and despite being on a diet of gentle and bland foods, my stomach feels relieved. Hoping for the best now

@sadcat13 Omgosh! 😳 How horrible for you that must have been! I'm glad they told you that you didn't have to take them anymore! You were able to get in 8 days of antibiotics and that's definitely a good thing. It must be pretty well healed if they were able to take the most stitches out. 😬 Plus a lot of antibiotics stay in your system for a little while (hours or days depending on which one). I'm glad you were able to get some sleep and that your stomach is feeling some relief!

(sending you good healing vibes) 💜

@mytwistedsoul thank you. I had a strong one (dalacin) because the dentist said the tooth was close to my synuses so an infection would have been a huge problem, that's why I got a strong antibiotics this time. I'm definitely feeling so relieved I don't have to deal with it anymore. But the panic is still there somewhere. Just being happy the tooth is not coming back, and once the complications are over, it's done with this one forever, leaving only the lastone.

@sadcat13It sounds like auditory processing issues are making things really challenging for you. Many people find it helpful to use strategies like asking for information to be repeated, taking notes, using visual cues, or breaking tasks into smaller steps. You are not alone in this, and it’s okay to find the techniques that work best for you. Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience.
