Is it possible I have ADHD?
So this has been really stressing me out for the past year, I'm wondering if I have ADHD. First I want to say that I'm really close to failing my 8th grade year right now and so I need to find ways to catch up with my homework! Although, my grades first dropped when I started 6th grade since the workload was harder. I have a very hard time concentrating on my work whether its at home or its in school. I also do other things like fidgeting, and losing my train of thought about every 10 secs! I have other symptoms but this is getting too long lol. I see a psychiatrist and he recently started me on ADHD medication (ritalin) and said that I show a lot of the symptoms. Am I diagnosed? I don't want to come off as using a disorder as an excuse for my missing work, I just want to know if I have this disorder so that I could have the right treatment. Also, any tips for handling my schoolwork is very appreciated!

@Marengo You could confirm with your doctor about your diagnoses if it would make you feel better, but if he prescribed you an ADHD medications, and it is helping, then it is probably what you have. As far as study/homework tips, go into a room without anyone around, where it can be quiet and you can shut the door. Get comfortable and put all your energy into focusing on doing something simple or rhythmic to get your mind adjusted to focusing on something. Then slowly ease into your work. It's a long process, but it's the only way I get anything done. And if you are a music person, listen to low-fi music, it really helps me.
I would suggest that you should consult with a doctor or a professional counselor. As we are not the doctors or professional counselors so we can't tell you exactly that you are having ADHD or not. I would recommend you to consult with Alliance Experiential Counseling they are professionals in treating ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression.
