Social anxiety and fear of judgement

When I walk in public I can't walk properly. I thought everyone is watching me and judging me and this effects my walking style. My body becomes stiff and I walk like a robot.. And everyone is making fun of me because of my walking style and this made me really sad and depressed, now I'm afraid to go outside. In my childhood I have lots of medical issues so I'm always in my house, so my public exposure is very low.. When I walk I thought is I'm walking right?... Plz help me to overcome this 😭

That's horrible that you have to endure that. Some people are just meanspirited and immature. We are all built differently.

You deserve to go places without feeling self conscious. Sometimes I can't walk in a straight line or stumble because my legs get shaky too but I tell myself, it's just how my body works, maybe in it's own way it's doing a unique dance.

Try to ignore the silly people and if it helps wear headphones and you can listen to music or podcasts or anything that will relax you, so you can be at peace :)

Hello! <3 Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I know it isn't easy to handle feelings of anxiety and judgment. You're completely welcome and judgment-free here!

I'm sorry that people have been unfair and rude to you, and that has caused you to feel sad :( You shouldn't have to worry about something so simple as how you walk.

One thing I've noticed about myself as an individual with ADHD is that my spatial awareness is different compared to individuals without ADD/ADHD. Because of this, I tend to bump into things quite often, like doorframes or countertops. I also usually walk differently than others, and my steps and pacing are out of rhythm because my brain literally exists in space differently, and that's completely okay!

I used to be really self-conscious about it, and sometimes I still am, but I've taken the mindset of allowing myself to exist as I am without being my own first critic. A lot of the judgment I felt came from within, and once I accepted myself as I am, it mattered less what other people thought.

You're doing amazing, and don't be afraid to allow yourself to exist as you are <3

I literally investigated this today because the same happens to me ocassionally. As a youth person, i feel very nervous when i see any teenager on street just because i think if they are judging me, even when they are not looking. Walking is an automáticamente action, so when you start to think in how you walk, that action starts to require your brain, so thats why you feel rare, it's like when you think too much in breathing. I have just started to prove somethings that may be useful. When that happens, try to Focus on one point and try to go straight to there. Dont look down, as this can get worse. And the rest is mental, you can practice about how you ser yourself and your self-confidence

The front of adhd brains stops growing later.

A dog’s brain grows for longer than a wolf’s but slower.

Dogs are often neurotic compared to a wolf getting upset easily. I like dogs.

Regarding stiffness make a fist squeeze very hard and then without opening it relax the squeeze the sense of relaxation can be found if you feel where you are stiff and find the relaxing feeling. You don’t deliberately tense The tensing of the fist was so you could feel the release sensation. It takes time but eventually you can relax muscles at will.
