“The Marvelous Mind of Me”
There’s a whirlwind inside me that twinkles and hums,
It dances and sparkles and beats like drums.
It rushes through thoughts like a bumblebee spree
That marvelous, magical mind inside me.
Sometimes it zigzags, sometimes it zooms,
It paints all my dreams in the brightest of rooms.
I start with one thought—then, oops! There go three!
Oh, what an adventure it is to be me.
My focus is funny—it plays hide-and-seek,
It hides for an hour, then shines for a week.
But when I find something that fills me with glee,
I dive in so deeply, I swim in the sea!
I forget where I’m going, but find something new—
A shortcut to Saturn! A castle! A clue!
The world says “slow down,” but I’d rather see
How far my ideas can take silly old me.
Yes, I might be wiggly, I might be loud,
But my mind wears colors instead of a shroud.
It’s bursting with wonder, with lightning and glee—
A beautifully different way just to be me..
So if your thoughts twirl and you can’t sit quite still,
If your heart races faster than your own will—
Remember, dear dreamer, that’s magic you see—
The marvelous, marvelous mind—
of ADHD.
