im not in control of my brain
hello! im Angie and i think ill just vent here about my experience with adhd :3
ok so my story with adhd
i first learned about it a couple years ago after seeing one of the youtubers i liked to watch diagnosed with it. They were talking about all the symptoms and i was like "huh this is surprisingly relatable.." then i proceeded to take a little test. The test said that i probably have it and that i should see a doctor....blah blah blah. i basically just laughed it off and completely forgot about it for 4 years. Fast forwards to three months ago i was watching yet another youtuber that had just gotten diagnosed with adhd and again it was super realatble. This time i fell down a really deep rabbit hole of tests, readings, adhd youtubers and tic tockers, the neurodivergent community ect. This is also how i found 7cups :) the more i researched about adhd the more i realized i might have it. Once a friend even asked if i had it lol. So i told my mom about this and it didnt really go well. She talked about it like it was a disease saying that those who have it are "sick" and that i was perfectly fine. She said that the internet was just tricking me....but then started to talk about my fidgeting and how i cant seem to sit still and focus or be quiet and neat and organized like my siblings. And one of my siblings has autism so i guess i thought shed understand but... i dunno. Anyways this is my first year of middle school and damn its soo hard and i know it'll just get harder so thats fun. And- woa im using alot of ands And procrastination, not being able to focus, zoning out in the middle of conversations that really dosent help. Also i know this could be somthing else. It could be bpd, autism, depression or i could just be mentally f0ked up soo yea.
***... i wish i could type like this for my essays
Lots of people have it. There is no shame. The major point is not to be too hard yourself for messing things up. Don't take it personally. To be successful, you need to use tools to overcome your deficits. Like phone notifications for deadlines, events, and things. Organizing your life so you're not overwhelmed by chaos. Getting started on ADHD meds would help you to get started on that. But the meds themself is not a long term solution. They just help you learn ways to organize and change yourself. Good luck. There are plenty of resources online.
RELATBLE.
I’m sorry that your mom doesn’t understand!! Mine doesn’t either, she acts really weird abt it.
basically I did the same thing where I did a ton of research and tests so hopefully we can both get a professional diagnosis sometime soon.
Angie, can you talk to a school counselor about it?
@LostTurtle2
Another idea is your primary care doc.
@LostTurtle2 im too scared to talk to either of them about it 😅 Ive heard that it can take months for the councilors to get back to you about things like that and is the end of the school year. For a docter i probably would if it weren't for my social anxiety and my mom comes with me when we go so that wouldn't end well :/
