Hiding from Coworkers

I have discussed a previous situation at work on here that is related to my boss going from easily getting pleased with my work to now me hoping she loses her job. My usually helpful and accommodating boss was critical of me in a private meeting when I was trying to request my coworkers to be quieter while I was working, especially when a loud colleague was arguing with another while someone was helping me with coding. My boss used my musings related to fatigue and some non-work conversations with other coworkers as an excuse to stomp on my needs when I was preparing to make up hours from Winter Storm Fern with the rest of the team. My chronic insomnia and recent allergies have left me less productive at work anyway, but then that meeting with my boss killed my ability to do extra work. To make things worse, a man who is in my row told me about how I had no excuse to be unprofessional in the face of my health problems even though this wasn’t about me at all. It sounded exactly like similar junk he gave me as advice when all of us were returning to office after the pandemic. So he should be fired too. Now I’m still debating whether I should change jobs.

My boss has become a jerk who should be fired and denied future work because of how she has acted after Fern. But the baseline employees have still been nice to me. I told a nice lady on my team about my health struggles and she offered a walk outside and coffee with me last week. She also showered me with birthday wishes since Sunday was my birthday. But then this week I have continued to be angry about having to work and be on the same team as my boss. My boss complained during the discussion about me visiting with my favorite cubicle neighbor when I was unsure where the complaint originated. But this coworker still greeted me warmly in the hallway this week even though I was too nervous to even speak. This was out of fear over if these complaints are my boss’s or this cubicle neighbor’s. Another female coworker approached me at my desk today to ask about my birthday and that she wanted to make me cupcakes based on my favorite flavors. Even when my emotions are too much for everyone I know except me and I have needed to hide from coworkers from nearly 2 weeks, I need to challenge this behavior I’m doing out of fear.

Should I still stay with this job? Do I still deserve respect from my coworkers? Will my boss be snotty forever because of the winter weather?

Hard to tell if another job will give you more pleasure or not. Careers are not simple.

But what i would say is dont make that decision when not having slept properly.

If you have 0 energy its really hard to stay fair to others and also hard to judge if you really value a job or not. Since any form of work might just be too exhausting to be considered a good job.

Thank you for sharing your insight. When I got this job it brought me a sense of purpose but I was especially nervous since it was my first one. I had some issues like my mental health things too that have only started to be more resolved lately. So I guess a job doesn't fix everything overnight.

And thank you also for letting me know about those effects of sleeplessness. I really think it could be that as well which had brought me down in the first place. I have made lots of bad decisions over the years because of not giving myself food, water, or sleep.
