Hi everyone, I'm feeling lost and don't know which way to go.

I changed career after 20 yrs of teaching in 2021. I went back to uni and did a BSc and then continued onto a PgD which I'm in my 2nd yr.

Thing is, I can't find a job now (I'm a Brit living in France) and my family keep saying sarcastic things like when am I gonna get a proper job. Or I can't be a student forever etc.

My husband says I've wasted money and I should get a job. I was working in a company but last week they said they weren't renewing my contract as my language skills aren't good enough.

So now I'm unemployed and the prospect of getting a new job in my new career pathway is slim (it feels like)

I've spent the last 25 yrs being a mother to 5 kids and still taking teaching jobs when and wherever possible. I've never worked in a company or school as I am always expected to drop everything for me kids. So I've always been self employed.

I just want to feel like my life counts for something. But now I'm unemployed and it looks like everyone was right. Maybe I should have just stuck with what I was doing.

Sorry for the long post.

I have noone else to talk to as my feelings are just met with eye rolls and told you so.....

Everyone wasnt right!

You are a wonderful mother and wife.

Putting your family first.

Sacrificing your dreams.

Brave.

Changing careers.

Studying.

Broadening your horizons.

Even if it doesn't work out, you were an amazing teacher and you cannot feel bad about challenging yourself ever 💜💕

You should be proud!

💕💜

Thanks :) it's nice to hear some positive words for a change.

There are so many things I want to do but just feel like everyone wants me to be content with what I have.

I changed from teaching for a new challenge and I wish my family could support me instead of mocking me.

Knowledge is still in your mind, the past did witness your success as a teacher. Why whould you forget that? No need to keep regretting a bad decicion.
