Hi!

Knitting is relaxing and at the same time I can do something useful but I am not so skilled so I mostly have done just scarves and blankets for the bed, stitching pieces like in patch-work till having the blanket done!

I use needles and wool or cotton, I am not able to use crochet but it would be nice to learn!

I made scarves for people and it was my Christmas' gift for them cheeky

I prefer crochet over knitting, because there are fewer loops to lose. 😋 But really, it depends on the application.

I crocheted a baby blanket for my daughter while I was pregnant; it was a patchwork of granny squares of white hearts on blue and blue hearts on white, with scalloped edges. I like making bigger projects with squares, because it feels more manageable that way.

With knitting, I've made scarves and washcloths, but nothing really advanced or complicated.

@empatheticEvergreen

Hi there! Oh that sounds amazing! Really nice the blanket you made for your daughter!You are very good at it then! I think that with crochet there are many nice things that can be done! You should teach me !

Do you most use cotton or wool too?

Cheers!

@BeyondTheInvisible I learned to knit with needles, and I have a scarf I made myself. My grandmother used to make sweaters for me when I was younger, and they were really warm and nice.

Yes, grandmother's sweaters must be a good memory too!

I am definitely not a talented knitter! Always just the basics with needles.( self taught) but not so much anymore as my eyesight is not so great and my concentration is poor.

@MAT1965

That's fine MAT! Maybe one day if you feel like trying it again, you can make something: important is that you enjoy it, no need to make a masterpiece!

Yes, knitting having a good light source is always better smiley

I do both.

I've knitted jumpers for myself and crocheted blankets.

Because I did both we couldn't work out why my jumpers had an unusual design until one day mum noticed I was holding the wool in the wrong handn when knitting. Although I'd learned to knit first, somewhere along the line I had forgotten to change holding the wool in different hands when knitting or crocheting lol

@BeyondTheInvisible I prefer crochet over knitting, I'm no good with knitting needles :D I was taught how to knit at school, but I never liked it much.

I like crochet lace, as well as bobbin lace. Bobbin lace would be more traditional in my home country than crochet lace. I'm hoping to get started on that again soon :)

@LunaHecate

How nice! Bobbin lace is something they practice in some regions of my country too!

OOOOOOOh, fiber arts! We live on a sheep farm, raising Shetland sheep and our whole family does fiber artsy stuff. I spin, knit and do felting, my husband weaves (which means if I want to use my own handspun, I have to hide it from him before he gets his hands on it ;) ) and our daughter is learning spinning, knitting and weaving. I adore working with northern British Isles techniques, such as lace, Aran and Fair Isle work. Most of my work goes to my husband, daughter and other family members, though I do sell a few pieces at art fairs. I probably make fingerless mittens/glovelets most often, mainly because my husband wears through them and my daughter always loses one. I've got a family full of fiber artists on my mom's side, but actually learned from people outside of the family. My mom constantly has something in her hands, usually crocheting slippers or knitting socks or dishcloths, that I think everyone in the family must have by now :)
