My Mom Made Me Cry For Paying For Someone's Lunch

This guy that I have been hanging out with didn't have money so I offered to pay him food. I did also wanted an excuse to hang out with him. My mom told me I was stupid and that they guy pays for the girl's food. Told me I hope you don't aspire to be the girl that takes care of a guy like an idiot. You better not be telling people you have savings or they will take your for a ride, especially if he's unemployed. (He is about to start work next week. He even told me if I ever want something o let him know.)

I told her it was a friend I knew from 2018. Why can't I have friends? Why can't you let me have friends and be normal? Always have to thinks badly about people. She has done this for years, why? I'm 29 now. She made me cry and told me you can do whatever you want once you're in your own place. I told her I want that but you know very well I'm unemployed. She told me that I was just looking for an excuse to cry.
