less hope for 2023
Is anyone else going into 2023 with 0 hope?
I’m turning 16 in 2023. I’ve been to hospitals, tried different programs & therapies, 11+ different meds, but I have not gotten better at all. I just dropped out of school, lost all my ‘real life’ friends and feel completely alone.
Everyone’s response to me is always “it’ll be okay, it’ll get better,” but it won’t. It’s been years and nothing has changed for the better.
Many people don’t agree with me when I say this, but I believe some people genuinely cannot get better and I think i’m one of those people. Things will not be okay. I don’t see 2023 as a new chance, I see it as the same redundant suffering that has consumed the last 5 years of my life.
I just want to know if anyone else feels this way. I have no hope for 2023, and no desire to see 2024.

Hi!
Depression is tough.
We might live all our lives with it.
But yes, it might get better with time.
You are very young, and going through a life phase of big changes.
Hope is a double-edged sword.
We might create expectations that are not realized, and then feel very disappointed and frustrated, making things worse.
A safer approach is to do things to cope and maybe that make us feel a bit better at the moment.
Live in the present, and try to make it as good as possible.
It doesn't have to be perfect. Just give it your best.
I wish you all the best!
Marcelo.
