Teenage life..

You feel like a nobody next to everybody. Everybody seems to have a purpose and everyone makes you feel like no one. Everyday you struggle to get out of bed. You cant do anything without feeling its wrong and when you try to, youre wrong. You dont know what youre talking about. You feel stupid because everyone calls you clueless. Youre just that teenage girl that knows nothing. But yet at the same time they expect you to maintain high grades and keep all youre responsibilities in check. Not to mention what society expects. Dress pretty, look sexy, have a bunch of friends, Make sure to take photos for social media, oh and use filter on your photo to hide blemishes. Then when you do what society says, you still arent good enough. Youre too fat, Youre ugly, Youre stupid. All while trying to figure out who you are in this world and how to live in this world. You start to feel like the world is crashing in and you dont know whether to cry or scream or break everything in sight. Inside all you want to do is the right thing. You try to say the right thing and smile. You never have someone asking you to hang out or wanting to ask others and you watch all the other kids on social media having the time of your life. Youre just watching the world spinning around you unable to keep up. So yes. We are sensitive. We are hormonal and difficult but you arent us. You were once us in a different day but you arent us. We have changed so much that you cant really truly fit in our shoes. Social media and cameras ruin lives. They watch our every move. You could go home safe... we go scared. Words couldnt touch you. Words are everywhere around us now and it hurts. We are the teenagers of a new generation.y

@Singinglove24

I don't know anyone in my generation who doesn't think it would be awful to have been teenagers with social media. It is a nightmarish thought. It was hard enough - and yes, it was hard.

Is social media bringing anything positive to your life? If not, maybe you could take a break for a month and see if it improves your mental state.

I quit Facebook and I'm sure I'm "missing out" on something. But I don't miss seeing everyone's perfect lives and perfect vacations and perfect families and everyone who is having fun while I'm not around. You know, none of that is real? It is everyone's curated lives, seconds captured looking brilliantly happy, and it's not reality. I really do believe that Facebook and Instagram are terrible for self-esteem. I still like Twitter, but mostly because it's NOT personal. It's just talking about TV or the weather or politics, or whatever I want to talk about - and it's easy to ignore the rest. But the "Look what pretty pretty lives we have" social media is just so horrible for creating any sense of self.

You have the power to turn it off. It's totally optional.

@Singinglove24 It sounded in your post like it was something really bothering you. Or are you just speaking for your generation in general?
