2nd shift blues
So im not one to try this sort of stuff but im at a point where I need to try something. I've never been in a relationship with anyone and every time I've tried I either overreact or try to talk so long that the other person becomes uninterested. Now I'm not talking with anyone for over a year now and it's starting to weigh me down. I work 2nd shift in a manufacturing plant usually between 10-12 hours a day 4 days a week. I dont do much outside of work besides riding atv's and playing video games. Im trying the online dating thing but the more and more I try it it just bums me out more. Friends have signed up for it and get matches daily. I'm not the best looking guy around but I try my best to look presentable. I'm at a point where my days just seem to merge together and it doesn't seem to matter what I do because it's the same thing day In and day out. I've tried to get my friends to do other things but it always seems I'm the odd one out when it comes to planning things and they never seem interested in anything I want to do or even say for that matter. I'm at a point where I just want to sit in bed and watch tik toks and ignore the world. I dont know what to do to get me out of this funk.
@ShdwHntr547 Hey there,
Thanks for the support, I have been at it trying to find new things to do and new people to connect with but always seems to end the same. No two days are exactly the same theirs always something different, but overall the feeling of my day is just the same. My work hours don't help trying to get out more when I only get 3 days a week to do things during the day. Now expecially since we are starting to come into winter, it's only going to get worse. I try to tell myself it will get better but day to day its always the same. Relationships are the same too, I try to get to know someone but always ends with them ghosting me or unadding me never to hear from again. That puts a huge mental strain on me because it also means that 99% of my days im spending alone or around people whom don't talk to me. My friends will text me once in a while but never a constant conversation, usually just to ask me something then move on.
You don't have to be the best looking guy, but if you have a heart of gold and some self esteem that'll make you shine like a diamond, my friend. Be your own best friend and others will eventually follow. Polish yourself up. Take a nice pic for your online dating profile and practice your communication skills with some online hotties. Try being mysterious, funny, witty, serious, deep, playful, flirty, direct, subtle...whatever suits you. Just aim to have fun with convos first. Small goals. Think of it as entertainment instead of shopping for a girlfriend. If something comes out of it...great! If not...oh well, you had fun chatting 🤷♀️
Try talking to women wherever you go. Smile at people. Smiling makes one more attractive.
Sweetpea's Rules of Texting
1. Don't text a novel (long text block)
2. Don't text multiple messages in a row (annoying)
3. Don't always be available (looks desperate)
4. Be interesting (nobody cares if you're doing laundry and don't just say Hi/Hey
The more you put yourself out there, the more chances you have of meeting someone great. In fact...I dare you to wink at the next hottie you see. You can say something like, "How ya doing? *wink* or just wink without saying anything and smile. Try it! What's the worst that could happen?
