Am I being ungrateful
Anyone else wanna cry and scream at the top of their lungs so someone will finally give you one *** once of anntention and the only time u get annttention is when ur doing bad ***?
Hi Im Mae! Im 15 nd it feels in the past 4 years of my life I stopped getting noticed in my family like they will plain out ignore me until Im doing some dumb *** then I get negative attention. Honestly I wish I had a family who loves me as much as some does but my family still does love me. I just have too much to do. My anxiety makes me think things that are not true and it makes me wanna cry because I love them too the only person I really don't give a *** for is my step dad who pays for everything and has been there since I was 1 am I just being ungrateful?
@LynLyn75 @Buddywinte
No you're just upset at how they are treating you and that's understandable.
@Maeeeeebae999 awww gives you a giant tiny hug ❤ your not being ungrateful, teenage years are the hardest, with so much going on in your life and mind. Maybe you should just straight out tell them, to please show you some attention a hug from time to time, and that you know they live you but you need them to show you that. Some parents just need to be reminded sometimes ❤ I love you ❤
I learnt to hate affection because noone truly gives AF.
Even the other posts, those are just kind words from people who don't care about you
@C01CA04
Your statement is more or less correct but at least they took the time to say some kind words I suppose. For you they obviously don't hold any power but for some people they seem to
@Maeeeeebae999 mae it's ok ❤ I'm right here for you
I can't judge if you are being ungrateful or not
All I can say is if you feel something it has legitimacy
So your step dad pays for everything but you feel a certain way about him. Maybe you feel he just tries to buy love but doesnt give it from his heart?
How you feel about your family ignoring you and only paying attention if you do something bad - I'm sure there is legitimacy to that too
It's tough growing up - you come to realise that ultimately the person who has your back is YOU
Even if people mean well or try to care or love you they are not always able to or they don't know how to or they are not willing to or they simply can't connect with what you need. Like one person might just want to be cuddled and instead the person buys them stuff... it's comp[licated so I would say don't doubt yourself and your feelings but also try to understand that life is complicated, people are complicated and even if you desperately want your family to love you they way you would wish to be loved, maybe they are incapable of or unwilling to do that
You have to be your own love first
@Maeeeeebae999 There always has to be someone that in their misery has to make others miserable. Instead of following the simple rule of "if you can't say something nice - don't say anything" they have to open their mouths. If you want to you can have the posts you don't like removed
I have to agree with @Tinywhisper11 maybe you can tell them you'd like some affection and attention every once in a while because you feel like the only time anyone acknowledges you is when you're in trouble for something. I don't think it makes you ungrateful. Just because someone puts a roof over your head and food on the table - those are things that they're sort of obligated to do but there is more we need emotionally. People have a way of pointing out when we're too much or not enough but at some point we had to have gotten it just right - where were they then to point it out?
*offers safe hugs 💙*
@mytwistedsoul
I agree thank you
@Maeeeeebae999
I think the phrase "I put a roof over your head and food in your mouth" basically means they ain't gotta do anything else. I find it very untrue why have kids if its achore for you? Why have kids if you know you cant support them mentally? All questions i have always asked myself.
@Maeeeeebae999 You're welcome 💙
@mytwistedsoul
Hey, if someone is miserable they should not say anything?
You do realise you are on a mental health website? All this constant enforced positivity is very draining for some people, particularly someone who feels bitter and unloved and all they hear is "empty" words online
@WhatNameidk I have no problem with people talking about their misery but maybe it would fit better on a thread of their own and not on the thread of a teen that is looking for support
