Daughter with depression and anxiety
My 13 yr old daughter has depression and anxiety and she doesn’t want to do anything. She just told me that when school starts on Wednesday she just won’t go. I have been struggling to get her to go to school and she has missed a lot already. When she does go to school she gets in trouble and the principal calls. She is in therapy and on medication but it’s clearly not working and she has another appointment on Thursday to adjust her medication. I am frustrated because it’s a struggle just to brush her hair and teeth. She refused to brush her hair yesterday and it’s now matted. I am doing everything that I can do. I got her help at the behavioral health center but nothing is working right now.
@Arrianne97 I'm sorry that your daughter is struggling so very significantly. Perhaps you can also seek some support professionally to learn how to best help your daughter when she is at her low points. As a mom, I know how hard it is to watch your child suffer. I wish you all good things as you find your way forward.
Thank you for your kind words. She ended up going to school on Wednesday and would not go Thursday. At her appointment the Dr prescribed more medication. She told the Dr. she wanted to die 20 times within a few weeks. She attempted on Christmas Eve. They did not want to admit her to the hospital last Thursday because she wasn’t in immediate danger or wanting to harm herself. I’m worried all the time that I will find her lifeless. The Dr told me to lock up all medication, sharp objects and chemicals.
@Arrianne97
I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to handle emotionally. I hope at this time the new meds are working for her. Take care, and I sincerely hope she continues to communicate her feelings so that you're able to get her help if and when she needs it.
