Dealing with dark thoughts.
Hello, I have been dealing with dark thoughts that consist of self-harm. These thoughts happen randomly regardless of where I am and what I am doing. Sometimes triggered by sights or sudden emotions. Mostly random though. I have been dealing with this issue for years now. Never really sought after professional help nor did I ever want to. However, I have been urged on by an important individual in my life to seek help/advice from somewhere to start my healing process. The cause of my dark thoughts are unknown to me. It just happened to start somewhere in High school. Nothing from what I remember can tip me off to the reason why. I’ve mostly been living a normal life regardless of my situation based on my own opinion. Now that I’ve given some context to my situation. I am looking for someone to talk to about this issue to maybe help identify the cause or just to help me get through my healing process of this situation. Any advice or support would be greatly appreciated.

I went through the worst period of my life for 2 1/2 years where I kept having thoughts like that.
What got me out of it was developing friendships, turning acquaintances that I barely knew into real friends. I would try to go all out to help someone even if I only barely knew them a very little bit or just met them. I met as many people I could in a depression group therepy (in person). And so I did that for a bunch of people, and more than half didn't care or never because good friends anyway. BUT I earned 3 new, deep, lifetime friends out of my many attempts, now I turn to them and call them whenever I have those dark thoughts and they know they can call me anytime too. Now they never last. Having immediate love that you can count on is what got me out of that. But it took years of trying to earn those 3 really great deep friendships, but it is so worth it.
Many hugs to you.
