Depression
I have been having a hard time with depression for most of my life, but I feel it is getting worse. I have tried many attempts at my life and the ideations are returning since I have been abandoned by someone I loved dearly.
I am open to any advice on coping because I cannot cope anymore I feel.
I am so sorry that you have been struggling lately.
When I get really down, I start with the basics - am I eating enough and drinking water? It is hard to fight any of if when you are also physically empty.
Are you talking with anyone about how you are feeling?@Tripleplay
Thank you for your kind words.
I don’t really have anyone to talk to about it and I don’t want to talk to my family about it. I don’t want them to judge me or look at me differently. They wouldn’t fully understand anyway and I know that. I would be wasting my time explaining to them and would regret it. They might try to be understanding in the moment but I know they would just feel weird and even possibly burdened.
I understand the dangers of going to family with your issues. Some of them can do more harm than good.
I was actually talking about speaking with a medical doctor or considering some online therapy. All of those things can really help to get your brain in a better place.
Hoping that today was a little better for you. @Tripleplay
I keep getting an error when I try to respond.
Interesting. It is working fine at this end. It might be logging you out. I usually try to save any longer messages before I hit post. Otherwise it might be the language that you are using. The system is pretty sensitive to triggering words. But usually if you rephrase it it is fine. Sometimes the computer works better for me than the app. @Tripleplay
Do you feel like specific events have triggered the depression or is it something that has been ongoing or even on and off for quite some time, and you relate it to events? if it is situational, i'd say you should talk to someone you trust about that situation. if it is something ongoing, something that helps me even the tiniest bit is just knowing that it's just the way i feel and not relating it to any circumstances in my life. either way, don't do what i did. i suffered with depression since i was a toddler and i never brought it up to my parents or teachers or anyone. i wasn't even lucky enough to know i was technically depressed because everyone treated me like I, myself, was the problem. don't be afraid of what people will think of you. if you wait, and this continues, you will wish you had said something before so that you could possibly be helped and accomodated. it's important for others to know what you are experiencing, that way their reactions to you are genuine and not misconstrued. and you think they may treat you differently? tell them not to while you're spilling the beans....the purpose of telling them is to get help. but you have to tell them you need help or they will not see it if they don't experience it themselves. what you need is possibly a therapist. i wouldn't recommend taking a bunch of medication but they will likely try to put you on an antidepressant. if they so choose to give you medication, request the lowest dose always, no matter what, so that you can see how they effect you. if you start feeling worse, quit immediately. if they start to make you feel better, celebrate. if nothing, try upping the dose. i am also not a doctor so this is not a doctor's recommendation, obviously, but i happen to be very familiar with the world of antidepressants since i've taken so many different kinds i lost count. which tells you that none of them were as effective as they should have been and as a matter of fact most of them were either 100% ineffective or caused terrible side effects. but everyone is different. the most important thing is finding out whether or not it is ongoing clinical depression. whether it is that, or just circumstantial, being open to people close to you can be very helpful. i just realized i wrote a novel. but i truly hope the best for you. depression is tough but you are tougher!
