Hello all. I didn’t think I’d find myself back here… lately I’ve been feeling depress… I’d often dream of a black shadow hovering over my body as I lay in bed… it is not sleep paralysis, however it feels so real that I would wake up crying… there’s this feeling that I miss someone or something but I can’t think of who/what as it’s just a black figure over me in my dream…. My husband sleeps next to me and hold onto me, yet I still feel a heavy black figure over me… in the morning, I wake up alone and I feel so weak… exhausted… don’t want to go to work. It’s been 7 years since I’ve had this feeling again… why is it happening again…

Hi,

I used to have the very same thing happening to me and I would even see movement in the closet and feel something grab my hand and I was young, but I remember one night saying I am not going to take it any more and I dared the shadow or what ever it was to bring more as in "Is that all you got"? but I geared up for the worst dreams of my life but what happened is I faced my fear and it disappeared. You have the power over it. It is in our minds so lets dare it to and when you call it out it flees. I hope I helped a little and feel free to chat more any time.

Blessings, Day

Hey there, I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through this again.

It must be incredibly tough to have those dreams with the black shadow hovering over you. It's completely understandable that it feels so real and leaves you waking up in tears. It sounds like there's this lingering feeling of missing someone or something, but it's hard to pinpoint exactly who or what it is because it's represented by that black figure in your dreams.

Having your husband sleeping next to you, holding onto you, should bring comfort and a sense of safety. But despite his presence, that heavy black figure still persists, leaving you feeling alone and drained in the morning.

Depression can resurface even after a period of time. It's like a shadow that sometimes lingers in the background, waiting for the right moment to make its presence known again. It's not your fault, and it doesn't mean you've done anything wrong. Depression is a complex condition, and its causes can be multifaceted. I encourage you to take some time to reflect on what might be triggering these feelings and dreams. It could be recent changes or stressors in your life that are bringing up past emotions or memories. Sometimes, these things have a way of resurfacing when we least expect them.
