Hey guys, I'm new to this whole thing but I figured here was a good place to start! I've had depression for five years now and I've noticed lately that my emotions and low self-esteem have been taking a toll on my friends and my relationship and im not sure what to do, I've had a lot of counselors and nothing seems to work, I can't just be happy and I'm getting really mentally tired of acting like it but I'm losing my friends and I feel if I don't get happy it will only get worse, what do you guys think?
@Hojolego5112
hey i see you're new and just wanted to welcome you to the 7 Cups family! if you have questions about getting around let me know! happy to help.
I think I can help you is what I pass through for almost 4 years
@Hojolego5112 Hi! I feel like I am in a place similar to yours. Depressed for a number of years, starting to take its toll. And as for therapy... I am mostly bored with it. It seems... mechanical. Listening to what you say, mirroring, making suggestions - I feel that it doesn't bring me anything new.
Also, my life isn't half bad either. Materially speaking reasonably comfortable, in a stable relationship since thirty years (but yes of course that relationship does need work as well), in a job that's not too bad although I am starting to detest it...
But I do not have that many friends that I see regularly, and it becomes increasingly difficult to connect with them, and with new people. They bore me, I take no initiatives, I am gloomy - just not much fun. And that growing isolation rather scares me. As you, I do not really know where to go next.
