Friendzoned now depressed

Yesterday I was friendzoned by a girl I was seeing for a month. I thought everything was going well, but she ended up calling me. She said that on paper we should be together, and she was to busy for me and I need someone who would give me the attention I deserve. But she also said that even if I waited for her we probably won’t be together down the timeline.

She wanted to still be friends but it was just too hard for me to say yes to. She was my first date in almost 7 years and made me forget about all the abuse and trauma I went through with my ex girlfriend. It’s hard enough since we both do a niche sport and live super close to each other.

I'm not doing so well and just lonely.

I can imagine the pain that you are in right now. None of this means that you did anything wrong.

The first few weeks are always the worst. What kinds of things are you doing to care for yourself? @TheLostCosmonaut

Nothing this just happened yesterday. I’ve been miserable and I forgot to mention that I also had to put my cat down as well and I told her that when I picked the phone up.

I've been crying all day

That must be so hard. The best way to start caring for yourself is going back to basics. Force yourself to eat and drink. Being physically weak makes things even harder emotionally. And know that crying is  part of the process. You are allowed to cry. @TheLostCosmonaut

Hey, I'm really sorry to hear that you're going through this. It sounds like you invested a lot of emotions and hope into this relationship, and it must be tough to have it not work out the way you wanted.

Firstly, it's totally okay to feel the way you do. Rejection stings, especially when you thought things were going well. It's okay to be disappointed, and it's okay to take some time to process everything.

It's great that she was honest with you about her feelings, even though it doesn't make it any less painful. The fact that she wants to be friends might mean she values you as a person, but I understand that it might be too hard for you right now.

Loneliness can be a tough thing to deal with, especially after opening up to someone and then feeling that connection slip away. It's important to give yourself time to heal and surround yourself with supportive friends or activities that bring you joy.

And remember, it's okay not to be okay. If you need someone to talk to, I'm here.

🤍
