Recently I’ve been dealing with my depression worsening. I fall into the what if world and it sending me spiraling. Me and my partner have been fighting over small things. Nothing has helped us stop arguing. So we are living in separate houses for a while and we pushed our wedding back. I’m so hurt and I’m so scared that she’ll leave me and find someone better. She says she won’t, but she’s never really been good at keeping her word. I don’t know what to do and I’m starting to float down a bad path of thoughts of what ifs and if Is. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Yikes. I wish my experience was different, but here it is:

My uneasiness during my engagement was NOT solved by getting married. I thought the worst scenario was having to tell all of the wedding guests that it was cancelled or postponed, but that was nothing compared to marrying an untrustable woman. I wish we had just broke it off, continued to date, and continued to mature.

If she doesn't keep her word, you are delaying disaster in your life. Married life was terrible (it isn't for everybody) and my health was destroyed until we finally divorced.

It you think she could find somebody better. The marriages that work are the ones where both of you feel lucky to have the other. If she doesn't feel that way, you don't want to be married to her.

If I were you I would break off the wedding but continue to date. She will feel lucky if she tries to replace you, and realizes that you really are the best one. You have decided she is the best one. So at that point you're ready to marry.
