I wanna ask my parents about therapy, but I'm not sure
I accidentally posted this as a journal, meant to post it here instead
But, I wanna ask my parents about therapy, but they are very christian and conservative, (TW for suicidal thoughts and calling 911) last year I called 911 because I was suicidal, and they called EMS and they took me to a physical hospital to make sure I was ok, I was and they told my parents I needed therapy, my parents said they'd get me a session or 2 with a christian therapist just because they didn't want CPS to take me away, but then they never did and realized CPS isn't coming
I wanna ask about therapy, but I don't think my parents will let me go, and if they do they'll get me a very christian therapist that will be homophobic and make it all about Jesus and reading the bible, and that will not help me at all
@alex2316 I'm really sorry to hear about what you're going through. It must be incredibly tough feeling unsupported by your parents, especially when it comes to something as important as your mental health. It's completely valid to want therapy that aligns with your needs and beliefs, not just what your parents prefer. Have you considered maybe reaching out to a school counselor or another trusted adult who could help advocate for your needs with your parents? Your well-being is so important, and you deserve to have the support that truly helps you 😌
That is a tough one, but you can find a path forward. Two possible suggestions: is there someone at school who you could talk to who could suggest someone more neutral for therapy? Second, what about doing some online therapy here? You could just tell your parents you were looking for a spot to vent. @alex2316
@bestVase7265 I am homeschooled, and second, I use this website in secret because my parents would never allow it, but if you're talking about the actual $150 a month therapy on here than my parents would still require a christian therapist and if it's online that's even worse because my parents would listen and I couldn't be open about anything ever
Ok, so those ideas are a bust. Let us figure out if we can try some other ones.
Do you attend a church? Is there a youth group leader or someone you could trust there? What about talking to your actual family doctor? You are getting old enough that you can ask for a more private meeting with your doctor. @alex2316
