I’m a 13 year old girl struggling with depression while dealing with a narcissistic mom at home. All she does is complain about this or that. I tell her I’m trying my best but it’s clear she doesn’t see that. Even after my parents divorce and her neglecting me and my siblings she still views herself as a perfect mom. Ive made it clear that she could be the problem of why I’m struggling but to her she ignores it because she thinks she does everything right. It makes me upset when she tells everyone and her friends all her children are so happy and we’re doing perfectly fine when she knows damn well we are not. I just wish that I could go back in time to make the divorce never happen so that she didn’t have this cruel mind telling her to leave her kids behind. All I want is just my old mom back 😞

I’m so sorry you’re going through all of this. ❤️ I can only imagine how painful it must be to miss the mom you used to have while feeling like she doesn’t understand what you’re going through now. Your feelings are valid, and you deserve to be heard and cared for, too. None of this is your fault, and you shouldn’t have to handle everything alone. It’s okay to miss how things used to be and to wish things were different. Is there anyone you can possibly talk to? Like another trusted adult or a school counselor?

thank you so much 🥹 When I want to talk to someone I talk to my therapist or my older sister which is very helpful 💗

That is a lot of pain to be carrying at such a young age. You do deserve some type of support. That was a great suggestion of communicating with your school counselor. If your school does not have a counselor, could you work on building a relationship with one of your teachers, coaches, Librarian? Anyone at your school would be better than no one at all. Seek out and find yourself people who will care about you.

That sounds really hard. I understand what that’s like. You mentioned that she presents to everyone that everything is perfect and great. I imagine that feels invalidating and isolated. You basically wrote my story. I’m glad you are aware of what is happening and recognizing how it makes you feel. That takes self-awareness.
