I've been struggling with my mental health, self esteem, self love and whatnot ever since childhood. These past few days have been especially tiring and I realised I needed to make some changes.

I'm gonna improve my mental health and I need some advice where and how to begin. Pls help.

First of all, I just want to say I’m really proud of you for recognizing that you need change and for taking this step. That takes so much strength, especially when you’ve been struggling for so long. I know it’s exhausting, and I know it probably feels like an uphill battle, but you deserve to feel peace within yourself.

Since this is a lifelong struggle, I’d say start small. You don’t have to fix everything at once you just need to take one step at a time. Here are a few things that might help as you begin:

1. Be kind to yourself.

I know this is easier said than done, but the way you talk to yourself matters. Start by noticing when you’re being harsh on yourself and try to reframe those thoughts. Instead of “I’m not good enough,” try “I’m learning to love myself, and that’s okay.”

2. Find one small thing that makes you feel good every day.

It could be music, writing, walking outside, reading, or even just drinking a cup of tea while doing nothing. Give yourself permission to enjoy things without guilt.

3. Set tiny, manageable goals.

Not “I will love myself completely in a week” but “I will try to say one kind thing to myself today” or “I will take a five-minute break when I feel overwhelmed.” Small wins add up.

4. Reach out for support.

You don’t have to do this alone. Whether it’s therapy, talking to a friend, or even journaling having an outlet is important. You deserve support and understanding.

5. Be patient with yourself.

Healing isn’t linear. Some days will feel better than others, and that’s okay. You are not failing, you are growing. And growth can be messy, but it’s still progress.

Most importantly, please remember that you are not broken. You are not unworthy. You are a human being who has been carrying a heavy weight for a long time, and you deserve lightness. I’m rooting for you, and I believe in you. One step at a time, okay? You’ve got this.
