Negative thoughts
I've been struggling a lot recently with negative thoughts, not suicidal or self-harm, just general pessimism and getting down on myself and hard on myself and criticizing myself and not forgiving myself. I used to be a lot worse but it's been coming in waves again. I actively work to try and dismiss those thoughts and focus on positives and things to be grateful for, but it's difficult. Anyone else dealing with that currently too?
@blueTiger3807 I’ve been there too, and it’s really tough. Negative thoughts can be so persistent, even when you’re doing your best to stay positive. What’s helped me is practicing self-compassion—reminding myself that it’s okay to not be perfect and that everyone has ups and downs.
Sometimes, I find that talking it out with a trusted friend or therapist can give me a fresh perspective and help break the cycle. It’s a work in progress, but remember, it’s okay to take things one step at a time. You’re not alone in this.
Thank you @SoniyaJonas for your response.
I like the idea of self-compassion. I do try that sometimes, but I'm quick to forgive others but not myself. It's definitely a work in progress! Right now I don't have very many friends, which is why I joined groups on here. So it's hard to talk it out with a trusted friend, and I'm in between therapists, but soon will have a new one. One step at a time is exactly right! Thank you!

I agree I try to practice self compassion everyday, especially on most difficult ones
