Good afternoon, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to write here But I'm really trying to be better. I can't help but feel unloved unwanted invalidated not good enough. Today I feel a bit overwhelmed. I'm doing my best to find any positive thing about myself but it's hard. I'm not willing to give up on myself. I know I have better days ahead of me. I just feel like I don't know how to get there. I know a lot of therapy tells you to spend this time with your friends and family, but that is two things that I do not have. So before I go through this entire thread being completely negative of myself, I have decided to post three things about myself that I am proud of.

Number one I am a smart woman who put herself through college

Number two I am a strong woman who exercises multiple times a week

Number three I am a capable woman who owns her own home and pays her own bills with no one else's help

If anyone has advice on how to overcome these dark days. I'll take what I can get.

Hey there! The first thing I noticed about your post is how hard you are fighting for yourself, and how it feels like you’re fighting alone.  That is an incredible feat, and I’m glad you are here reaching out.  I also hear how much hope you have that better days are ahead of you!  I see how hard it is to keep pushing when those days aren’t here yet.  You are a warrior not just for the amazing things that you wrote you are accomplishing and have accomplished, but for writing them in the first place!  Your commitment to positivity and reaching for that hope is incredible.  I also hope you can find kindness for the part of you that is carrying feeling unloved, unwanted, invalidated and not enough.  That must be exhausting, and sometimes rest, crying, and allowing space for the heavy emotions for a little bit of time can be as helpful as striving for those better days you know are right ahead of you.  I know they are right there waiting for you, too.  You sound like a warrior for these battles you are fighting, and I’m glad you’ve come here, because warriors need to care for themselves too.  We are here to support you!

From your post, it seems like you might be interested in affirmations.  Many people find daily affirmations helpful in helping maintain that positive outlook.  Additionally, winding down the day with something positive you took from the day, or something you are proud of (big or small!) can help solidify that when our brains try to convince us our days were only composed of negative experiences, we actually accomplished more than we think.  If you feel like you want to go extracurricular with the affirmations, try saying what you are proud of out loud.  (That’s right, brain, we did do some cool stuff! And you get to hear about it!)

Thank you so much. Your words really help. It was very difficult for my to post that, but I needed to get it out. And I was just praying that someone would understand how I was feeling. I've never looked at myself like a warrior. I've always seen myself as weak. And my friend means well, but she doesn't understand that focusing on the small wins is the only way I get through the day sometimes. And yes. I LIVE off of positive affirmations. I have plaques all over my office with positive affirmations. I ALWAYS try to find at least one thing that is positive in my day. Even if the only thing I can thing of is "I got out of bed today". I thank God I found this app. Even in just one day I have already found people that truly understand how I feel. And while that may not give me answers on how to feel better, it makes me feel a lot less alone. And that is truly a blessing that I needed. Thank you so much for that.

I am so glad you have found people you can connect with and who can relate to how you feel. Finding the small wins from each day is amazing! And the post you wrote seems like a major win to me! Positive affirmations can be so powerful in keeping that hope alive and redirecting our mindset. Finding people to connect with and feeling less alone makes us feel like we aren’t walking through our dark times on our own. I’m so happy you’ve found people who are empathetic, and hopefully start to shift some of those “not good enough” feelings. I know I don’t know you, but I don’t have to to know you are 100% good enough, and I can speak that people here are ok carrying that for you until you can see that for yourself. You’ve got this!
