Question: Why does time seem to go slow while you’re depressed?

Context: So, possibly, I have genetic depression (something I recently realised) but majorly it’s my own I guess. But the point is- my depression got triggered rigorously, continuously and (I hope not but,) semi-permanently since about 3 years ago (exactly 2 years, 8 months). My question is- why does it feel like it has been like 10 years since that incident happened post which I changed completely?? I still am struggling with clinical depression, much better but still possess it somehow. But, WHY DOES FEEL SO LONG AGO? Why do days feel longer when you’re depressed?? I’ve probably forgotten about the life I had before that. It feels like it has been ages.
