Regaining motivation to clean
Hi everyone, I have been struggling with severe depression for the last year and a half. In some ways thongs have improved as I'm not isolating as much as before and I actually now am enjoying food again. However I am really struggling to clean my home and it is so embarrassing to me as prior to this my house was tidy. It's like there is a wall up and although I do clean the dishes and don't have food or garbage lying around my house is in shambles. Intellectually I want to clean it yet haven't really made a good enough dent into the project. I know part of it is that because of health issues last year I felt I needed to bring things up from basement and downstairs which I might need because I was having a hard time getting up and down stairs and falling. So my main living area is now crowded and my house is old with little storage space. The clutter drives me nuts but I go to start and maybe make it 10 min then feel overwhelmed and give up. I know this can occur with depression but I'm stuck as to how to get out of this loop as I want it cleaned, I know I will feel better with it clean except physical cleaning will cause intense physical pain but I just seem to keep making excuses or not having the energy to work on the project. Has anyone dealt with this and have any suggestions? I have made lists, put music on, tried giving self pep talks, asked for help from friends, etc and I'm still looking at most of what was brought to main floor last year which is crowding my great room. It is frustrating and then I best myself up for it despite knowing that is not helpful.

I'm glad you are feeling better, that makes me happy to hear 💖
Don't be embarrassed, we all struggle.
What is encourage you to do, so it doesn't become any more overwhelming is to start in one room.
Pick what is rubbish, then recycling, then what could go to charity.
Doing, small and manageable pieces will enable you to slowly start seeing the difference .
This will lift your confidence and restore your peace of mind.
We can all let things get on top of us 💖
