Struggling after a tough year

I have struggled with anxiety and depression in the past. I have been handling things better in the past couple of years without needing support, but I don't feel like that's the case anymore.

I have had a really tough year, both physically and emotionally, and I know that not being mentally or emotionally ok with everything is ok. However, I have a habit of comparing my situation to others, and it is hard for me to be ok with not being ok when I see so many people doing well in much worse situations...

I am hoping that this community will help me to feel like I am not alone in what I am feeling.

I'm not really sure why I decided to create this thread other than to write down what I am feeling and maybe there are others out there who can relate.

I've never done this before, posted on a forum, but I read your post and I felt like it was written by me. I want to thank you for sharing your feelings and being open about your struggle and your need. It's a relief to know someone out there feels exactly as I do. I also struggle with negative thoughts and comparing my life with others. This struggle recently led to me getting off a social media app because I realized I only hated myself and my life more while I was on it when I know logically there are good things about my life and I shouldn't feel so extremely negative.

I struggle with social anxiety and depression and am looking for people like me. I hope you can find the support you are looking for. Thank you again for opening up. That takes courage and courage is always inspiring.

Head up. Rock on. 🌸

You're not alone at all. And remember, when you see other people who seem to be doing well, they may be good at hiding what's really going on with them inside.

Thanks so much for creating the thread. This is a great place to share.

Lots of us go through similar things. It can be really difficult when you are comparing yourself to others, but we all do it.

I think the keys to remember is that people are often less happy than they appear at first glance. It is also really hard to compare any one situation to another. Depression is hard because you feel like your life should be considered "great" because you aren't experiencing "true tragedy". But you are experiencing really bad stuff. The brain chemicals of depression can be deadly. @powerfulLime9301
