Hi. I've been very sad most days. About a month ago a secret affair my husband was having became not so secret. I asked him to choose her or me. We'll he didnt choose me and the next day all his things were packed and he was gone. We share two children together and a home full of projects he swore he would get to. I'm so angry that he would hurt his family this way. I feel hopeless because I'm left alone and feel as if I'll be alone forever. Each day gets worse instead of better.

@enthusiasticCucumber8444 nothing is permanent. Remember every person will leave us one day. It's always me with me, you with you. Love yourself, spend time with yourself. I think he was not always with you, before him you live . Many people would leave you, but you live, you live stronger.

Sorry to hear that he choose someone else over his own family.
One thing I can never fathom, to cheat on my wife or her on me.
42 years soon to be.

It's you and the kids that will suffer from his ignorance, and what gets me is, that type of relationship will never last.

How long were the two of you together? how old are your children?

Thank you for your input. I'm having a difficult time with blaming myself. How I didn't see this coming or what I could have done to prevent it. I know it sounds absurd because at the end of the day I do know it's not my fault but I'm having difficulty sitting with my own self pity. You are very blessed to have someone stay in your life for such a long period of time and I'm sure it wasn't easy at times. My ex and I were together for 12 years. We have two children but one is not biological to him but was raised by him. My son's are 15 and 9. My 15 year old is aware of what's going on even though I've tried to shelter him from things. My nine year old is just very confused and I'm unsure how to approach the conversation with either one of them.

You shouldn't blame yourself, and it is not uncommon for one partner to not see this coming. I know it's not easy but he did this. You did not tell him to go have an affair. Try not to be hard on yourself over him leaving, even though 12 years is nothing to scoff over.

When I met my person, she was a single mom of a beautiful baby girl 1.5 years old. I help raise her over the years as if she was my own, she has Downs Syndrome and still lives at home with us.

Over the years we have had our share of problems but have overcome them.
