TW: Suicide Attempt by Loved One
On Monday, we had the perfect crapshoot. My husband’s grandmother had just passed away on the 12th (funeral was Saturday). On Monday, CPS came to my house to investigate an accidental bruise on my son’s face. My husband was already struggling, and this is the straw that broke the camel’s back. He attempted to take his own life. I drove him to the hospital and thankfully he is doing okay.
He is currently in a psychiatric ward, and I am struggling. We have been married for over 6 years. He is the love of my life. I feel so helpless and like there is nothing I can do to meaningfully help him. I miss him so much. I know he is where he needs to be, but I haven’t been without him by my side since I was in the hospital years ago.
How do I keep going? How can I be there for him? I don't even get one hour of visitation with him a day. The ward didn’t let me in until 3:45, and he didn’t get to the visitation room until 4:10, and visitation was over at 4:45. It feels so cruel. I can’t call him or text to remind him he is loved. I feel so helpless, on top of having to take care of my two kiddos. How do I get through this?
