No one can help you but yourself.

I hate hearing this statement. Sure. Change starts with me. But I asked for help and I was denied. I feel like I would have to be in my deathbed for someone to say, "what do you want to eat?" At the very least.

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. It's an awful feeling to be denied help. I want to let you know that we are here to support you. You're not alone. This is a safe and non-judgemental space. Please feel free to reach out to a listener should you need someone to talk to 1-1. Take care.

The statement actually makes me feel more alone. As someone who is trying to reach out for help, that is the last thing you need to hear. When you're in dire need of aid, why would you redirect someone to search within? Not only is it unhelpful, it's ignorance. Some problems, especially if chronic, cannot be solved alone.

Telling someone you need somebody to talk to does not mean you meant you needed to talk to YOURSELF. Mental health is not a joke.
